Podcast- Community Spotlight: The Cody Barrasse Foundation

Community

Jul 24, 2024

Our latest conversation is the first “Community Spotlight” episode of 2024, highlighting the Cody Barrasse Foundation. While the goal of this podcast is to highlight business owners and high performers to better understand how they make important decisions, these episodes are different. We know there is so much more to life than planning and investing, and we care deeply about the community in which we live. We recently sat down with Cody Barrasse’s mother, Linda, his father, Michael, and his brother, Joe, to discuss his life and the foundation his friends and family created to honor him.

We discuss the impact Cody’s foundation has had over the years. We also discuss why his story is an important example of why estate planning is about so much more than money. Linda shares a moving conversation she had with Cody on his 22nd birthday. This single conversation not only helped their family make difficult decisions immediately following his death, but it also allowed them to help so many people in the years since. They share an important message about how proactively communicating can provide clarity and a sense of security for our loved ones in a worst-case scenario. They also tell some great stories to help listeners better understand who Cody was—a “joyful contrarian” who viewed the world in a unique way. He was fiercely loyal and loved by so many.

Linda, Michael, and Joe also share important information about organ donation and their mission to raise awareness. While over 90% of Pennsylvanians support organ donation, only 52% of people are registered organ donors. They also discuss where your donations go and future plans for the foundation. Beyond the foundation itself, Cody’s life and legacy have also provided a sense of community and connection at a time when that is desperately needed. Thank you to the Barrasse family for sitting down with us, as well as to Cody’s friends and extended family for all the work they have done for this great cause.
