Happy Thanksgiving
CommunityNov 27, 2024
Thanksgiving is late this year, which will make for a shortened holiday season. With Friday being an unofficial holiday in most organizations, we’ll return from the long holiday weekend with just over three weeks until Christmas and just over four weeks left in the year. It will be another year that passes with us talking about how quickly it went by.
With that in mind, we encourage you to take the time to slow down and enjoy the time with friends and family. Thanksgiving is a great holiday to reflect and be grateful for what we have. We had the opportunity to volunteer yesterday at the 48th annual Friends of the Poor Thanksgiving Community Program. This has become an annual tradition for us. It feels like each year it gets more impressive and eye opening. It is impressive to see the operation come together. There are assembly lines of volunteers at different tables packing the meals and boxing them up while volunteer drivers take them to different places in the community for those that are unable to drive to pick up their meals. It truly is a well oiled machine.
It is eye opening to see the tremendous need in our community. The amount of meals that were packed and given away to those in need was overwhelming to see. It certainly put things into perspective and left us with a sense of gratitude. We’re very lucky to be able to volunteer our time to help our community members in need. We’re even luckier to have our families and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving with. While there are many great organizations and causes to support in our community, we can attest that this is a very worthy one. More information can be found on Friends of the Poor by clicking here. From our families to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!
